Update

If you have not already done so, please fill out the google form with your daughter's dismissal plans for Friday, 12/20.

The girls are coming home with their Friday Folders today. You will find some graded Wordly Wise work as well as a 3 Word Thursday from this week. This group is SO creative and it certainly shows in their writing!

We are going to spend Monday and maybe Tuesday continuing to review Unit 3 in math. So that ALL of the girls feel great about long division. This week we practiced solving BIG NUMBER division problems using the partial quotient method as well as the traditional (we call OG) method. See if your daughter can teach you her method of choice!

The girls are loving our current novel, Bob. We continue to work on reading comprehension skills and discussing the many predictions we have thought of!

Update

The girls were excited to reunite after Thanksgiving break! We played "Find Someone Who" Thanksgiving addition to share highlights from our time away. We definitely are in the holiday spirit in room M02! Thank you for all your generous donations for the LS outreach project. Our class was able to fill 7 stockings with small toys for children in need!

During math this week, we reviewed 2 by 2 digit multiplication and practiced breaking apart bigger numbers to make division easier. Next week we will wrap up unit 3 and assess.

In reading we began a new novel, Bob, by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead. Throughout this story, we will work on strengthening reading comprehension as well making inferences with evidence. I also introduced the girls to word analogies this week. We talked about the 7 common types of word analogies and how making bridge sentences can help us determine the relationship between the pair of words. The girls are loving solving them!

I bet your daughter will tell you the highlight of her week was testing out a new computer game. During the Oregon Trail game, the girls we asked to make important decisions based on what we have learned about the long, hard voyage west during the Westward Expansion. Ask your daughter more about the Westward Expansion Simulator game!
