It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week! I hope you and your family have a restful holiday with your families. We have some special events happening next week!
Monday, November 25: Our grade will participate in the Turkey Trot from 11:00 - 11:45 around the green. Please join us if your schedule permits!
Tuesday, November 26: We will host the 4th grade boys from St. Christopher’s for our annual Thanksgiving Math Expo. This will take place from 10:00 - 11:30 that day!
Starting Tuesday, the girls need to bring their recorders to music class!
The girls and I discussed our next Lower School outreach project today and they seemed very excited! We are collecting small toys for children ages 9-11. We have five class stockings to fill and have already added some items I have on hand. Here is all of the information about this project. We really appreciate your support. The deadline to turn in the stockings is December 6 so that is why there is a quick turnaround! On December 18, we will have a class mug exchange! I will talk with the girls more about this next week. All of the details are here!
In reading, We finished Ranger in Time: Rescue on the Oregon Trail. Facts from the novel were used to work on a mini-project to supplement the westward expansion unit. The girls could choose from creating a wagon with supplies, drawing a 1850 America map, or drawing the Sacagawea coin. We were able to add excellent social studies related facts to our notes for a future, end of unit project on westward expansion in the 1800s.
I've seen tremendous progress the last few weeks in math. The girls are grasping the concept of 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication and are consistently solving these problems correctly. We reviewed important vocabulary with division and went over the basic concept of division with remainders. Please incorporate daily review of basic multiplication and division facts into your evenings.
